From a deck of cards, one card which is unknown to the spectators is placed face down on the table, off to the side: this is referred to as "he ghost card".

Four blank-faced cards are introduced and also placed on the table.
A regular card is selected and signed across the face, then inserted among the four blank-facers.
Suddenly, that card disappears!
All four blank-faced cards are shown front and back, with no trace of the selection!
The ghost card is turned over, revealing it as the signed selection!
